Happy Birthday Yosemite National Park
Fragments of an English Tour
October 1 marked the birthdays of actor and singer Richard Harris (1 October 1930 – 25 October 2002) and British writer William Beckford (1 October 1760 – 2 May 1844).
It is also the birthday of Yosemite National Park since an act of Congress made it so on October 1, 1890.

Don’t let it be forgot
That once there was a spot
For one brief shining moment
That was known as Camelot!
Camelot, Richard Harris 10/1/1930 – 10/25/2002
Richard Harris may not have been an author but to me he was an artist for sure. I became a fan of the Arthurian legend at a young age and have an extensive collection of fiction based upon the tales of Arthur and Camelot. You can’t really think about King Arthur and Camelot without thinking of T.H. White and The Once and Future King which is the inspiration for Camelot. Richard Harris brought that book to life and I was happy to have the pleasure of seeing him as King Arthur in the late 1980’s. Here is but a taste at YouTube.
